Omaha Vein Treatment Services
If you live in the Omaha area and want to treat varicose veins or spider veins, our Omaha vein treatment center can help. Totally Vein provides expert vein treatment under the leadership of vascular specialist Dr. Stephen Torpy, a top Omaha vein surgeon who has been providing Omaha vein treatment services for over 25 years. Dr. Torpy is committed to offering his patients a wide range of advanced, minimally-invasive alternatives to vein surgery, with innovative treatments like VNUS Closure® and VeinWave.
Until recently, if you wanted to treat varicose veins or spider veins the only treatment option was invasive vein surgery known as "vein stripping." Vein surgery was performed in a hospital, often required a lengthy and often uncomfortable recovery period, and sometimes resulted in noticeable scars.
Dr. Torpy has been a leader in bringing new and effective vein treatments, including the new Veinwave™ technology, to the Omaha region, giving his patients a wide range of minimally invasive options. If you've wanted to treat varicose veins but have been putting off treatment, you'll be glad to learn that you now have a wide range of alternatives to vein surgery.
Totally Vein offers a number of solutions for spider veins and varicose veins, including duplex ultrasound, VNUS Closure®, ambulatory phlebectomy, sclerotherapy, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, and Veinwave™. Many of our vein treatments require little or no anesthesia, and can be performed in less than an hour. They offer excellent results and quick recovery times.
Services offered at Totally Vein, a leading Omaha vein treatment center:
At our Omaha vein treatment center, we perform duplex ultrasound before undertaking any treatment of varicose veins. Duplex ultrasound is a non-invasive and painless way to diagnose the underlying cause of varicose veins. We will then propose a plan of treatment to help you treat varicose veins using the most effective, minimally invasive treatment options available.
Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (VNUS Closure®) procedure (or RF Closure)
VNUS Closure® or RF closure (radiofrequency closure) is used to effectively treat varicose veins and is an excellent alternative to invasive vein surgery. In VNUS Closure®, a tiny radiofrequency catheter is inserted into the vein and delivers gentle RF energy as it is withdrawn, causing the vein to close. Blood is then re-routed to healthy veins and the collapsed vein is eventually absorbed by the body.
Dr. Torpy has performed over 3000 VNUS Closure® procedures. VNUS Closure® can be performed in the convenience of our Omaha vein treatment clinic under local anesthesia, and most patients return to their regular activities within a day.
Veinwave™ is a new technique pioneered in the U.K. and France for the treatment of small red spider veins, particularly on the face, knee and ankle areas that are often difficult to treat using other methods. Veinwave™ is performed as an outpatient treatment with immediate return to normal activities.
At our Omaha vein treatment center, we are constantly looking for innovative and effective ways to treat problem veins. Totally Vein is one of only about ten U.S. vein treatment centers to introduce the Veinwave™ technique of spider vein treatment.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy (or Microphlebectomy)
Ambulatory phlebectomy, also known as microphlebectomy, is a procedure in which a varicose vein is removed through a series of tiny incisions. In ambulatory phlebectomy, the incisions are so small that stitches are very rarely required and scars are virtually imperceptible. We perform ambulatory phlebectomy in the comfort and convenience of our Omaha vein treatment center, usually under local anesthesia. After ambulatory phlebectomy, patients wear a compression stocking or bandage for a short period.
Sclerotherapy is the gold standard in the treatment of spider veins. In sclerotherapy, an FDA-approved solution ("sclerosing agent") is injected into the vein using a tiny needle. The veins then collapse, shrink, and are eventually absorbed by the body*. A series of brief (20-30 minutes) sclerotherapy sessions may be needed to treat spider veins completely.
Sclerotherapy is often considered a cosmetic procedure by insurance companies. It is usually performed by a nurse and physician assistant practitioners at our Omaha vein treatment center.* Individual results may vary.
Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy has expanded the use of sclerotherapy to include the treatment of varicose veins. Dr. Torpy uses ultrasound technology to precisely locate the diseased vein and to guide a needle, which delivers the sclerosing agent into the vein. As with the treatment of spider veins, several sessions of ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy may be needed to treat varicose veins.
Vein Surgery (Stripping & Ligation)
Traditional vein surgery, also known as ligation and stripping, has been practiced for many years. While many newer, less invasive techniques are now the first choice of doctors and patients seeking to treat varicose veins, in some unusual circumstances vein surgery may be indicated.
